Frank Monterisi is chief operating officer of Related Midwest, where he leads the daily operations for a portfolio of mixed-use, market rate and affordable developments in Chicago. In addition to overseeing the completion of the firm’s newest ultra-luxury residential tower One Bennett Park, pipeline developments under Monterisi’s purview include residential mixed-use projects at 725 W. Randolph, 900 W. Randolph and 400 Lake Shore Dr.; mixed-income developments Lathrop and Roosevelt Square; and The 78, a 62-acre, mixed-use neighborhood in downtown Chicago along the south branch of the Chicago River.

Prior to joining Related Midwest in 2019, Monterisi was the senior vice president of development for Related Companies, the parent company of Related Midwest, in New York City. Over his 12-year career with Related Companies, Monterisi managed a $4 billion asset portfolio of luxury, market rate and affordable developments in New York City and Chicago.

In New York City, Monterisi successfully delivered market-rate development MiMA, a 1.2 million square foot mixed-use project just west of Times Square. He also spearheaded affordable housing developments such as Hunter’s Point South, Roosevelt Island’s Riverwalk Court and Crossing, Willets Point, Marine Terrace, and Far Rockaway, setting the bar for ground-up affordable developments in New York City. Hunter’s Point received the Urban Land Institute’s Excellence in Housing Development award in 2016 and is considered one of the best examples of affordable housing development in the U.S.

In Chicago, Monterisi led the development of Related’s luxury brand, Related Rentals, with 500 Lake Shore Drive and OneEleven, an AIA project of the year award winner.

Monterisi sits on the board of several non-profits, including the Long Island City Partnership, YMCA of Greater New York, Jacob Riis Settlement Houses, and Arts in the Armed Forces. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts and a Bachelor of Science in History from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he graduated with honors and distinction and was a competitor for the USNA Boxing Club. Mr. Monterisi is also a retired military officer and war veteran, having served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps and as a captain in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
